Andrea Zambon
Chief Strategy Officer
As industries navigate rapid technological advancements, evolving customer expectations, supply chain transformations, and geopolitical uncertainties, strategic leadership has become a defining competitive advantage. Leaders who combine operational excellence with customer-centric thinking and a future-focused vision are better positioned to transform challenges into sustainable opportunities, ensuring their organizations remain agile, relevant, and growth-oriented.
Among such leaders is Andrea Zambon, who most recently Joined Kaisha Pharma International as Managing Director and Head of International Business. With nearly three decades of global leadership experience across pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical packaging, and business strategy, he has built a distinguished career by driving international expansion, organizational transformation, and long-term strategic planning.
Andrea's professional journey began after studying Business Administration at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, following his education at the Technical Institute of Commerce "S. Pertini" in Italy. He entered the manufacturing sector as a Planning and Production Manager in a local company that produces designer lighting systems, where he developed a strong understanding of operational excellence and industrial management. In 1998, he joined Nuova Ompi, later becoming part of Stevanato Group, where he spent 27 years progressing through a series of leadership positions spanning sales, business development, marketing, product management, and corporate strategy.
During this period, he led strategic initiatives across Europe, Asia, Latin America, and North America, including market expansion projects, the establishment of operations in Mexico and China, vaccine-related collaborations during the COVID-19 pandemic, and multiple customer-centric transformation programmes. At Baralan International, he spearheaded the development of the company's ten-year and industrial roadmap while leading business turnaround initiatives. He also serves as an Advisory Board Member for Aktiv Pharma and MG Shell, supporting both organizations in shaping their long-term growth strategies.
Having built an extensive international career, what core leadership principles have consistently guided your decisions across different markets?
As I prepare to begin a new chapter as Managing Director with the responsability on the Global Business for an Indian group, I reflect on a career shaped by experiences across Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia. Despite cultural differences, my leadership philosophy has remained consistent. I believe in empowering people while setting clear goals and measurable KPIs, listening beyond what customers explicitly express to understand their real needs, anticipating challenges before they arise, and connecting ideas, capabilities, and experiences to deliver meaningful solutions. These principles have guided every strategic decision throughout my professional journey.
Your career has spanned multiple leadership roles and business transformations. What has shaped your approach to strategic thinking and long-term decision-making?
One lesson has remained constant throughout my career: I never make decisions simply to resolve temporary issues. Instead, I focus on understanding the root causes before developing sustainable, long-term solutions. Strategic thinking requires patience, disciplined analysis, and the ability to look beyond immediate pressures. Whether I have been developing ten-year business strategies, entering new international markets, or leading organizational transformation, I have learned that lasting success comes from decisions that strengthen the future rather than merely addressing the present.
How do you help organizations stay ahead amid technological disruption, changing customer expectations, and global uncertainty?
The business landscape has changed dramatically since the pandemic. Organizations now value resilient supply chains, local partnerships, and greater proximity to customers alongside global reach. At the same time, artificial intelligence is reshaping how businesses operate. I see AI as a powerful enabler that automates repetitive, low-value tasks, allowing people to focus on strategy, innovation, and customer relationships. Ultimately, I believe companies should aim to deliver complete solutions rather than simply selling products, while remaining agile enough to anticipate customer needs before they become demands. My advice is simple: approach every day with the mindset that there is always something new to learn
What has been one of the most valuable leadership lessons you have learned while managing complex global teams and strategic initiatives?
The biggest leadership challenge has never been technical - it has always been creating a unified team with a shared vision. Throughout my career, including leading international business units and cross-functional teams during the COVID-19 pandemic, I learned that people perform at their best when they clearly understand both the objective and their role in achieving it. I believe time spent listening, communicating, and aligning teams is never wasted. It builds trust, encourages diverse perspectives, and ultimately creates stronger execution and better long-term outcomes.
Which qualities do you believe will define successful leaders in the coming decade?
Tomorrow's leaders will need to combine digital understanding with strong human capabilities. Emotional intelligence will be essential for building trust and inspiring high-performing teams, while execution speed will determine how effectively organizations respond to change. I also believe accountability and the ability to connect ideas from different industries, markets, and experiences will become increasingly valuable. AI will undoubtedly enhance productivity and decision-making, but it will never replace human judgment, creativity, empathy, or the ability to inspire people toward a common purpose.
What advice would you offer emerging leaders who aspire to build impactful and enduring careers?
My advice is simple: approach every day with the mindset that there is always something new to learn. Confidence in your own ideas is important, but true leadership also requires humility, curiosity, and the willingness to listen to different perspectives. Never hesitate to refine your thinking if it leads to a better outcome. Stay committed to a clear vision, continue learning throughout your career, and always focus on delivering more value than you promise. That principle has served me well throughout my professional journey.
