US Vice President Vance to visit Hungary

Vice President Vance will travel to Hungary next week to conduct bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and deliver comments on the U.S.-Hungary partnership.

According to a statement from Vance's office, second lady Usha Vance will accompany the vice president during his travels from April 7-8.

The journey occurs only days prior to Hungary’s election.

Last month, President Trump supported Orbán in an extensive social media post, describing him as “highly respected [and a] genuinely strong and powerful leader with a demonstrated history of achieving outstanding results.

“He tirelessly champions and cares for his Great Country and People, just as I do for the United States of America,” the president stated. “Viktor diligently strives to defend Hungary, boost the economy, generate employment, encourage trade, prevent illegal immigration, and maintain LAW AND ORDER!”

Trump stated that he and Orbán have “achieved new levels of collaboration and remarkable success” during his second term.

Orban has been in charge of Hungary for twenty years. Trump had previously supported him in both 2020 and 2022.

In November, the Hungarian prime minister visited Washington, where discussions primarily focused on Orbán's appeal to maintain oil imports from Russia following the U.S. sanctions on exports.

However, it was also somewhat of a lovefest, with the leaders exchanging compliments continually.
