Assam and EU Partner on Blue Valley Cluster Project

To enhance economic connections, the Assam government and the European Union delegation to India inaugurated the 'Blue Valley Cluster' in Guwahati, concentrating on the sectors of "flavours, fragrance, and AYUSH."

The initiative represents a significant advancement in enhancing collaboration among Europe, Assam, and the broader North-East area of India by fostering the growth of ecosystems and value chains in sectors that are of shared interest.

The cluster corresponds with the priorities specified in the EU-India Comprehensive Strategic Agenda established during the January 2026 summit and is integral to the wider Blue Valleys initiative.

The Blue Valley Cluster, spearheaded by the Assam government, marks an important achievement in implementing the wider goals of the India-EU partnership into tangible collaboration at regional and state tiers. It is anticipated to serve as a driver for research, innovation, investment, and industrial partnerships between European and Indian firms and organizations.

The event saw participation from Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam; Herve Delphin, Ambassador of the European Union to India; Sibi George; Didier Vanderhasselt; high-level officials of the Assam Government; members of the European diplomatic mission; delegates from the Federation of European Business in India; industry executives; institutional collaborators; and stakeholders from both India and Europe.

The presence of the senior "Team Europe" delegation indicates an increasing interest in transforming opportunities into tangible collaboration with Assam and the North-East region of India, known as one of the nation’s rapidly developing economic areas.

Assam holds a crucial role at the crossroads of economic development, connectivity, biodiversity, and innovation. As the entry point to the North-East and a connector to broader regional markets, the state is progressively becoming a hub for fostering global collaborations, enhancing sustainable supply chains, and encouraging innovation-driven industrial growth.
