EBU Appoints Annsofi Eriksson as its Chief Technology Officer

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has selected Annsofi Eriksson as its new Chief Technology Officer.
Annsofi Eriksson has more than 20 years of global leadership expertise in IT, digital transformation, and technology strategy within private and public sector entities. She comes to the EBU from Sveriges Radio, where she serves as Chief Information Officer and Director of Technology, and is part of the executive management team.
In her new position, Annsofi will head a newly formed department that unites the EBU’s efforts in technology, artificial intelligence, and digital platforms.
The department will consolidate knowledge currently distributed among various teams, enhancing collaboration with Members and industry partners, including leading technology firms, and guaranteeing a more organized and strategic reaction to the changing demands of public service media.

Noel Curran, Director General of the EBU, stated: “Annsofi offers a strong mix of strategic insight, operational experience, and a thorough grasp of technology’s role in contemporary organizations. As we enhance our efforts in AI, platforms, and collaborations, her guidance will be essential in guaranteeing we provide the utmost value to our Members and communicate with a unified, powerful voice.
At Sveriges Radio, Annsofi has overseen the entire IT and technology landscape, encompassing strategy, development, operations, cybersecurity, and vendor management. She has held positions such as CIO at Sergel Group and Head of IT at Länsförsäkringar Fondliv, along with senior leadership roles at Telia Company, Tieto, Aditro AB, and Alfa Laval. In these roles, she has acquired significant experience in managing large global teams, spearheading digital initiatives, and executing intricate technology transformations.

Annsofi is well-connected within the EBU community, currently fulfilling the role of Vice Chair of the EBU Technical Committee and serving on the Board of the Security4Media Association.
Annsofi Eriksson stated: “I feel privileged to assume this position at the EBU during such a crucial period for public service media. Technology and AI are transforming our sector, and I am eager to collaborate closely with Members and partners to seize these opportunities, enhance cooperation, and make certain that public service media flourishes in an ever-evolving environment.
She is set to assume the position on 1 October 2026, following Antonio Arcidiacono, who will depart from the EBU after over seven years at the helm of the Technology & Innovation team.

Antonio will remain in his position until Annsofi assumes hers, guaranteeing a seamless transition and transfer of duties.
