Omio to Acquire Rail Europe in Major Rail Travel Expansion

Omio Group has signed an agreement to acquire rail distribution platform Rail Europe, marking a significant step in strengthening its position in the global ground transportation market.
The acquisition, which is subject to consultation with the Social and Economic Committee in France, aims to expand Omio’s rail distribution capabilities while enhancing access to international train travel for customers and partners.
Omio operates a multimodal travel booking platform that enables users to search and reserve trains, buses, ferries, and flights through a single interface.
Following the acquisition, Rail Europe will be integrated into Omio’s consumer booking platform, its B2B distribution business, and travel discovery brand Rome2Rio, while continuing to operate under its existing brand.
The deal is expected to significantly expand Omio’s reach, allowing the company to sell approximately 22 million train tickets annually and collaborate with more than 28,000 transport operators and travel agencies worldwide. It will also provide Omio with access to Rail Europe’s extensive network of travel agents and rail operators across more than 70 countries, strengthening its global distribution footprint.
