External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to Visit France for G7 FM Meet

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is scheduled to visit Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay, France, from Thursday to Friday to take part in the G7 Foreign Ministers' meeting alongside partner nations, as stated in the official press release from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
As per MEA, S Jaishankar will attend at the request of France's Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noel Barrot.
The EAM is anticipated to engage in bilateral talks with his counterparts on the margins of the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
The G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting (FMM) will discuss major global issues, such as the Ukraine conflict, reconstruction initiatives, maritime security, and global governance reforms, as stated in a briefing by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Detailing the agenda, spokesperson for the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs Pascal Confavreux stated that the meeting is scheduled to occur soon after an informal assembly of ministers during the UN General Assembly, acting as a preparatory measure before the G7 Leaders' Summit. All of this leads to the organization of the Evian summit. It is scheduled for the 13th to the 15th of June, the briefing stated, mentioning that the talks would assist in shaping results for the leaders' discussions.

The meeting will focus on urgent crises as well as enduring structural problems.
The official stated that we will strive as much as possible not just to hold this informal gathering of what is broadly a G7 meeting, but also to achieve some tangible results, highlighting the importance of practical outcomes.

A major emphasis will be placed on Ukraine, with discussions scheduled about rebuilding efforts and wider regional security. The upcoming session will focus on reconstruction. The objective is to achieve no fewer than three significant outcomes, alluding to talks on nuclear safety, humanitarian demining, and funding for reconstruction. The importance of international financial institutions such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will be emphasized, especially in attracting investments for Ukraine's recovery.
