India-UK Tech Alliance to Strengthen Global Supply Chains

The UK Parliament was informed that the India-UK Technology Security Initiative (TSI) represents a strategic investment aimed at safeguarding supply chains and evaluating the pact's effects.
The TSI, established by Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Keir Starmer in July 2024 and reaffirmed in the India-UK Vision 2035, focuses on enhancing bilateral collaboration in vital and emerging technologies.
In a House of Commons debate at Westminster Hall on Tuesday, UK Minister for AI and Online Safety Kanishka Narayan emphasized UK National Security Adviser (NSA) Jonathan Powell's recent trip to Delhi for discussions with his Indian counterpart, Ajit Doval, to finalize the next stage of the agreement.
"The TSI is a pivotal investment for our future. We are dedicated to its delivery," remarked Narayan.

"The Technology Security Initiative is already making progress in biotechnology and health technology, sectors crucial for our economic expansion and resilience. It will ensure the stability of supply chains," he stated.
The British Indian minister in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), originally from Bihar, emphasized that technology and innovation are central to the UK's collaboration with India.
The UK and India naturally collaborate in technology, as prominent Indian tech firms such as Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, and Wipro are already growing in the UK, enhancing jobs, productivity, and innovation throughout our economy. "Numerous Indian companies and entrepreneurs are investing in Britain, fostering future jobs and growth," he stated.

This is the reason for the existence of the UK-India Technology Security Initiative. This partnership is significant, enhancing collaboration in frontier technologies including telecommunications, essential minerals, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum technology, biotechnology, health technology, and advanced materials.

"Collaborating closely with India enables us to not only unlock new prospects for our enterprises and ensure our technologies are built on secure and reliable foundations, but also to engage with a partner that is progressively shaping the global agenda," he informed lawmakers from various parties.
