Alfasigma has signed a share purchase agreement with Sever Life Sciences B.V. to obtain 100% of Nordic Group BV, referred to as Nordic Pharma, along with its subsidiaries, the companies reported.
The financial details of the agreement were not revealed.
The deal will incorporate Nordic Pharma’s specialty pharmaceutical offerings, which encompass products in ophthalmology, women’s health, critical care, and rheumatology, into Alfasigma’s business activities.
Nordic Pharma produces the Lacrifill Canalicular Gel in its ophthalmology line, which is a CE-marked and FDA-approved medical device for lacrimal occlusion. It is a clear and sterile gel composed of cross-linked hyaluronic acid, designed to obstruct tear drainage by blocking the canalicular system.
Lacrifill is prescribed for use, for a duration of up to 6 months, in individuals suffering from dry eye symptoms.
It is also the producer of Biolon and Biolon Prime ophthalmic viscoelastic devices (OVDs).
Nordic Pharma, a privately held company, operates directly in Europe, Canada, and Japan. The acquisition will enhance Alfasigma’s commercial presence by establishing direct operations in 18 European nations and adding commercial platforms in Canada and Japan.

In rheumatology, the deal incorporates Nordic Pharma’s recognized operations centered around the Nordimet methotrexate brand. Alfasigma is currently promoting the Jyseleca franchise, and the firm stated that this combination will enhance its standing in the therapeutic field. The acquisition will additionally transfer around 265 Nordic Pharma staff to Alfasigma.
