EU Delegation to Visit Assam, Deepening Bilateral Collaboration

A senior "Team Europe" delegation from the European Union (EU) will be in Guwahati, Assam, on 8-9 June to enhance partnership prospects between Europe and India’s North-Eastern States (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura), aligning with the objectives outlined in the joint Comprehensive Strategic Agenda established between the EU and India during their Summit last January, according to a statement from the European External Action Service.
The visit will emphasize value chains across sectors where Europe, the State of Assam, and the broader region exhibit significant synergies, such as in renewable and green energy, sustainable urban infrastructure, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, tea and agri-food processing, flavors and fragrances, and AYUSH.
The delegation from the EU will consist of Ambassadors and high-ranking officials from EU Member States, including Herve Delphin, the Ambassador of the European Union to India and Bhutan, together with European business delegates.

During the visit, the Team Europe Ambassadors will participate in a bilateral meeting with Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, while a business delegation from the Federation of European Businesses in India (FEBI) will engage with State officials to explore trade and investment opportunities.
The delegation is set to attend the workshop "Blue Valleys: Creating ecosystems and value chains between India and Europe" on June 9th, hosted by the Government of Assam, where European and Indian companies will gather to discuss collaborations in sustainable value chains, industries, and innovation.

The visit will also mark the inauguration of Assam's inaugural Blue Valley Cluster, a new industrial center centered on fragrances, flavors, AYUSH, and food processing. This 4P (public-private-people-partnership) cluster aims to link Europe, North-East India, and Bhutan, fostering innovation, research, sustainable manufacturing, and business partnerships.
This pilot initiative, directed by the Assam government, aligns with the Blue Valleys project, which was launched at the 2026 EU-India Summit.

The Blue Valley seeks to enhance industrial clusters, MSME connections, and sector-specific value-chain integration between the EU and India, while guaranteeing economic development and environmental sustainability.
